Milan, 1 July (LaPresse) – US President Donald Trump, in a post on his social media platform Truth, threatened Elon Musk, warning that without federal subsidies, the Tesla CEO would ‘probably’ have to ‘go back home to South Africa’ and suggesting that the Doge, i.e. his administration's department for government efficiency, should analyse the subsidies allocated to Musk's companies in order to save ‘a lot of federal money’. "Elon Musk knew, long before his very strong endorsement of me as president, that I was strongly opposed to the mandatory use of electric vehicles. It's ridiculous, and it has always been a key point in my election campaign. Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one,‘ the tycoon wrote on Truth. He added: ’Elon may receive more subsidies than any other human being in history, and without subsidies he would probably have to close up shop and go back home to South Africa. No more rocket launches, satellites or electric car manufacturing, and our country would save a FORTUNE." Trump concludes: ‘Maybe we should ask DOGE to take a serious look at this? WE COULD SAVE A LOT OF MONEY!!!’.
