Ukraine, Pope Leone XIV: ‘Senseless war, but there are signs of faith and hope’

Vatican City (Vatican), July 2 (LaPresse) – "Certainly, in the current historical context, it is not easy to speak of hope, nor to find words of comfort for the families who have lost their loved ones in this senseless war." Thus spoke Pope Leo XIV while receiving the bishops of the Synod of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. "Nevertheless, I receive many testimonies of faith and hope from your people. This is a sign of God's strength amidst the ruins and destruction," the Pope continued, adding, "I am close to you, and through you, I am close to the faithful of your Church." He concluded, "I pray that peace may soon return to your homeland."
