Turin, 13 July (LaPresse) – The Israeli Defence Forces have announced that today's deadly raid near a water distribution point in central Gaza was the result of a “technical malfunction” during an attempt to target a Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant. This was reported by the Times of Israel. ‘Today, a targeted strike was carried out against a terrorist operator of the Islamic Jihad organisation in the central Gaza Strip. Due to a technical malfunction of the weapon, the strike hit dozens of metres away from the intended target,’ the IDF said. "The incident is currently under investigation. We are aware of reports of casualties in the area following the incident and the details of the incident are still being reviewed," the army added.
