Milan, 15 July (LaPresse) – Steve Bannon, former strategist to Donald Trump, has criticised the US president's decision to continue sending weapons to Ukraine and to threaten Russia with further tariffs if an agreement to end the war is not reached within 50 days. Ukraine is a ‘European war,’ Bannon said on his podcast War Room, as reported by the BBC. ‘Ukraine is becoming very dangerous,’ Bannon said, ‘it's a European war. Let Europe deal with it, they have the resources. They have the manpower.’ ‘We are about to arm people we literally have no control over,’ Bannon said, referring to Ukraine. ‘This is an old and bloody war in the blood-soaked lands of Europe, and we are being dragged into it,’ he added. The BBC points out that Republican MP Marjorie Taylor Greene, a key Trump ally, also criticised the president's decision on Ukraine. In an interview with the New York Times, Greene said the move was contrary to what was promised to voters during the election campaign. ‘This is not just about Ukraine, but about all foreign wars in general and a lot of foreign aid,’ she said. ‘This is what we campaigned on. This is what I promised my constituency. This is what everyone voted for. And I believe we need to stay the course.’
