Turin, 17 July (LaPresse) – Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has responded to Donald Trump's tariff threats, saying that the US president was elected to govern the United States and “not to be the emperor of the world”. Last week, Trump threatened Brazil on Truth with 50% tariffs starting on 1 August. The tycoon linked the tariff threat to what he described as a ‘sham’ trial against former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, a close ally of Trump who is currently on trial in Brazil on charges of participating in a coup attempt.
