Rome, 20 July (LaPresse) – The IDF claims that troops fired warning shots near aid distribution centres in Gaza, but maintains that the figures provided by Hamas on Palestinian civilian casualties are inaccurate. The Israeli army claims that thousands of Palestinians were identified gathering in northern Gaza and that troops in the area ‘fired warning shots to remove an immediate threat to troops.’ The IDF says it is ‘aware of reports of casualties in the area,’ but adds that ‘a preliminary examination shows that the reported number of casualties does not correspond to existing information.’ The incident is under further investigation, the army says.
