Rome, 20 July (LaPresse) – IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir said that the army has presented the political leadership with several courses of action for continuing the offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. ‘Your operational successes here – the elimination of terrorists, the destruction of infrastructure above and below ground, the conquest and cleansing of large areas – will allow us to make a change in our operational patterns,’ Zamir told troops during a visit today to the Shejaiya neighbourhood of Gaza City, according to The Times of Israel. Zamir said the IDF would ‘implement new operational formations that will strengthen our strengths, reduce our vulnerabilities and deepen operational progress. These will put increasing pressure on Hamas and reduce the erosion of our forces,’ adding, ‘We have presented the options to the political leadership and will stabilise the situation according to our interests.’
