Paris (France), 22 July (LaPresse/AP) – The United States has announced that it will withdraw from UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, two years after rejoining. Washington has denounced the UN agency's bias against Israel. The decision will take effect at the end of December 2026. This is the third time the United States has left UNESCO, which is based in Paris, and the second time during the Trump administration. President Donald Trump had already withdrawn the United States during his first term, and the United States returned after a five-year absence after the Biden administration applied to rejoin the organisation.
