Milan, 23 July (LaPresse) – "As far as trade is concerned, we are obviously working to re-establish our trade partnership with the United States on a more solid basis. But we also know that 87% of world trade is with other countries, many of which are looking for stability and opportunities. That is why I am here visiting Japan to deepen our ties." This was stated by EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in a speech at Keio University in Tokyo on the occasion of the awarding of an honorary doctorate. ‘That is why countries from all over the world, from India to Indonesia, from South America to South Korea, from Canada to New Zealand, come to us to do business. And the list goes on. The point is that we are all seeking to strengthen our strength and independence. But only by working together can we achieve strength and independence,’ von der Leyen added.
