Middle East, WFP: ‘One in three people in Gaza have not eaten for days’

Milan, 26 July (LaPresse) – "The desperate need for food inside Gaza has reached incredible levels. People are dying due to the lack of humanitarian assistance‘ and ’a recent assessment by the World Food Programme found that almost one in three people are not eating for days". This was reported by the World Food Programme (WFP or PAM), the United Nations World Food Programme. The UN agency stresses that ‘around 470,000 people are living in famine-like conditions (catastrophic hunger – IPC Phase 5)’ and that ‘malnutrition is on the rise and around 90,000 children and women are in urgent need of treatment’. ‘Food aid is the only real way to feed the population,’ says the WFP.
