New York, July 29 (LaPresse) – At least five people, including a police officer, were killed in a shooting in an office building in Manhattan, New York. The gunman had a “documented history of mental health issues,” but the motive is still unknown, said Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch. Authorities have identified the suspect, originally from Las Vegas, and stated that he took his own life. The city's mayor, Eric Adams, said that another man was seriously injured and remains in critical condition. The off-duty officer who was killed was a 36-year-old immigrant from Bangladesh. He had served as a New York City police officer for three and a half years. The building where the incident occurred is located on Park Avenue and houses some of the country's leading financial firms and the National Football League.
