Rome, Aug. 6 (LaPresse) – A 6.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of Kamchatka. According to preliminary estimates, residents of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky felt a tremor measuring 3 on the Richter scale. This was reported by the Kamchatka branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Unified Geophysical Service, as quoted by the Tass news agency. This was followed by aftershocks measuring between 4.8 and 5.7 on the Richter scale. The earthquake follows the violent quake on July 30, the strongest since 1952, which reached a magnitude of 8.8.
