Tel Aviv (Israel), 8 August (LaPresse/AP) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that in order to destroy Hamas, Israel intends to take full control of the Gaza Strip and subsequently transfer its administration to friendly Arab forces. At a meeting, the Security Cabinet discussed an expansion of its 22-month offensive and approved the prime minister's plan. Interviewed by Fox News before the Security Council meeting, Netanyahu said: ‘To ensure our security, we intend to remove Hamas from there and allow the population to free itself from Gaza.’ ‘We want to have a security perimeter,’ he added. ‘We want to hand it over to Arab forces that will govern it properly without threatening us and ensuring a dignified life for the inhabitants of Gaza.’
