Milan, Aug 13 (LaPresse) – Russia has partially restricted calls made through Telegram and WhatsApp, Russian news agencies report, citing Roskomnadzor, the federal communications agency. "We inform you that, in order to combat crime and based on information from law enforcement, measures have been taken to partially limit calls on these foreign messaging services. No other restrictions on their functionality have been introduced," the agency stated. Roskomnadzor claims that scammers increasingly use Telegram and WhatsApp calls to deceive people, extort money, and engage in sabotage or terrorism. According to RIA Novosti, the messaging service providers have ignored repeated requests to implement countermeasures.
