Rome, Aug. 13 (LaPresse) – An official from the Kiev Defense Ministry has been accused of accepting a bribe from a construction company worth more than $1.3 million. The announcement was made by the Ukrainian National Anti-Corruption Office and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, according to the Kiev Independent. The tender, it is explained, concerned the construction of housing for military personnel. The bribe was allegedly paid in three stages: an initial payment of $100,000 after the tender was launched, a second payment of $400,000 upon signing the construction contract, and a final payment of $800,000 after completion of the first phase of construction.
