Milan, 15 August (LaPresse) – Violent clashes between protesters and police continued on Thursday evening in Serbia, where thousands of people returned to the streets to protest against the government of President Aleksandar Vucic. In the capital Belgrade and in Novi Sad, the city where protests against government corruption began following the collapse of a station canopy on 1 November last year, police fired tear gas to disperse demonstrators. Social media videos show riot police hitting some of the protesters. Also in Novi Sad, a group of young people smashed the windows of Vucic's Serbian Progressive Party headquarters and took documents and furniture from inside. Vucic told the pro-government television station Informer that “the state will win”, announcing a crackdown on anti-government protesters.
