Berlin (Germany), 15 August (LaPresse/AP) – One of the two people injured in a shooting near a mosque in Örebro, in central Sweden, has died. Local police reported that the shooting is believed to be linked to gang violence. According to reports, the shooting took place in the car park outside the mosque after Friday prayers. The victim is a 25-year-old man who was killed as he left the mosque, while the injured man is another 20-year-old. Numerous emergency services attended the scene and the police urged the public to stay away. Roberto Eid Forest, Örebro's police chief, said at a press conference that at least one of the perpetrators was seen leaving the scene of the crime. According to the Swedish news agency TT, the police are investigating murder, attempted murder and aggravated offences involving the use of weapons. Sweden has been grappling with gang violence for years, with gangs often recruiting teenagers from socially disadvantaged immigrant neighbourhoods to carry out murders. Local television channel TV4 reported that there had recently been tensions between two rival gangs in Örebro.
