Washington (USA), 16 August (LaPresse) – Vladimir Putin asked Donald Trump at the Anchorage summit to withdraw Ukraine from the eastern Donetsk region as a condition for ending the war. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing sources with direct knowledge of the talks between the two leaders. The Russian president said he was willing to freeze the rest of the front line in exchange for his main demands being met. Trump then conveyed this message to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders in phone calls today, during which he urged them to abandon efforts to secure a ceasefire from Moscow, according to the FT.
