Milan, 16 August. (LaPresse/AP) – ‘The harsh reality is that Russia has no intention of ending this war anytime soon.’ This was stated by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, emphasising that Moscow's forces launched new attacks against Ukraine just as US and Russian delegations were meeting in Alaska for the summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. ‘Putin continues to drag out the negotiations and hopes to get away with it. He left Anchorage without making any commitment to end the killings,’ Kallas said. She added: ‘Moscow will not end the war until it realises it cannot continue. Europe will therefore continue to support Ukraine, including by working on a 19th package of sanctions against Russia.’
