Milan, August 21 (LaPresse) – Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has denied that a phone call took place on Monday between Donald Trump and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, during which the U.S. president allegedly asked why Budapest is blocking Ukraine's EU accession talks. Hungarian media reported the denial, citing Szijjártó's statements on the program Harcosok Órája.

"I want to make it clear that no such phone call took place. It simply didn’t happen," the minister said, adding that "it’s not just that the topic wasn’t discussed — there was no conversation at all," in reference to a Bloomberg report from August 19. The report had claimed that Trump called Orban following his meetings in Washington, after some European politicians allegedly asked Trump to persuade Orban not to block Kyiv’s EU accession talks.
