Bogotá, 22 August. (LaPresse/AP) – A car bomb and an attack on a police helicopter in Colombia have killed at least 17 people, including several police officers. President Gustavo Petro blamed Thursday's attacks on dissidents from the now-defunct Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, known as FARC. Twelve police officers were killed in the attack on the helicopter while transporting personnel to eradicate coca leaf crops in Antioquia. Authorities in Cali reported that a vehicle loaded with explosives exploded near a military aviation school, killing five people and injuring more than 30. Petro initially blamed the Gulf Clan for the attack on the helicopter.
