Madrid (Spain), 22 August. (LaPresse) – The fire that broke out in Jarilla, in the Spanish region of Extremadura, has been stabilised after eleven days. The news was announced by the Regional Minister for the Presidency and the Interior, Abel Bautista, on X. The flames have consumed approximately 17,300 hectares within a perimeter of 170 km. This is the largest fire in Extremadura's recent history. Bautista reported that residents evacuated in recent days from the towns of Navaconcejo, Jerte, Tornavacas and Cabezuela del Valle can return to their homes. This afternoon, residents of the peri-urban area of Hervas will also be able to return. At 6 p.m., the alert level will be lowered from 2 to 1.
