Rome, 24 Aug. (LaPresse) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his gratitude to Pope Leo XIV for his support for Ukraine. "Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his gratitude to Pope Leo for his words of support for Ukraine at war. “I am sincerely grateful to His Holiness for his kind words, prayers and attention to the Ukrainian people in the midst of a devastating war,” Zelensky wrote in a message on X. 'With a heart wounded by the violence ravaging your land, I turn to you on this day of your national holiday. I wish to assure you of my prayers for the people of Ukraine who are suffering from the war, especially for all those who are wounded, for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one, and for those who have been deprived of their homes. May God himself comfort them, strengthen the wounded and grant eternal rest to the deceased. I implore the Lord to move the hearts of people of good will so that the clamour of weapons may cease and give way to dialogue, opening the way to peace for the good of all," reads the message from the Pontiff posted by Zelensky.
