Rome, 25 Aug. (LaPresse) – German Vice-Chancellor Lars Klingbeil arrived in Kiev by train on Monday morning for a series of meetings with senior Ukrainian officials, including a chat with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at his official residence. ‘In close coordination with the Federal Chancellor, I will seek to discuss how Germany can best support Ukraine in a possible peace process,’ said the SPD president. As for Germany's commitment to maintaining its military and financial assistance, Klingbeil added, as reported by ZDF: ‘Putin should not delude himself that our support for Ukraine will collapse. On the contrary: we remain the second largest supporter of Ukraine in the world and the largest in Europe.’
