Gaza, EU: ‘Raid on hospital unacceptable, serious investigation needed’

Brussels, Aug. 26 (LaPresse) – "The killing of five journalists, four healthcare workers, and several civilians in Gaza yesterday by an Israeli strike targeting Nasser Hospital, which caused at least 20 deaths, is completely unacceptable. Civilians and journalists must be protected under international law," said Anouar El Anouni, spokesperson for the European Commission for Foreign Affairs, during the daily press briefing.
"There have been too many victims in this conflict. It must end now. The civilians of Gaza have suffered for too long and too much, and it is time to break the cycle of violence and suffering. We reiterate our call on Israel to respect international humanitarian law and ensure that these attacks are investigated, taking note of the statement by the Israeli authorities that a thorough investigation will be conducted," he added.
