Frankfurt (Germany), 26 August (LaPresse) – "We must fear that incidents such as the one that has just occurred will be repeated in the coming days and weeks, in the context of Israeli military operations. It is possible that this cannot even be avoided. For this reason, I feel confident in confirming my assessment and decision that Germany will not supply Israel with weapons that could be used in the Gaza Strip under these conditions." This was stated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during a joint press conference with Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever in Berlin, commenting on the Israeli army's raid on a hospital that caused numerous casualties, including five journalists.
