I don't know if we are ready in this country, we have no choice,‘ the president said, adding that ’states will have to make their own decisions". It is not immediately clear how Trump's edict will work, as Washington DC does not have the death penalty, but the federal government does. Unlike other jurisdictions in the country, prosecutors, even those handling local homicide cases in Washington Superior Court, work for the federally appointed United States Attorney.
