Frankfurt (Germany), Aug 28 (LaPresse) – "There will be no meeting because Putin does not want it. He is avoiding it at all costs. He says he is ready for an agreement, but then orders his diplomats to do everything possible to avoid it. Putin knows that when you enter a room for a face-to-face meeting, you must come out with an agreement, or at least the outlines of one. And his motivation hasn’t changed. He believes he can win the war. He believes the West is already weakening."
This was said by former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in an interview with Der Spiegel, ruling out a possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to Kuleba, "in the coming weeks the Americans will do two things: first, they will present Russia as a constructive, engaged, and willing-to-compromise force, thus asking for concessions from Ukraine and the rest of Europe. Second, the Americans will pressure Ukraine and the rest of Europe, saying: without us, you have no cards to play. You must accept our proposals, otherwise we will withdraw."
"If Europe remains united internally and continues to support Ukraine, neither Trump nor Putin will be able to divide Europe and Ukraine. And they know this both in Moscow and Washington. They don’t say it out loud, but they understand it. Everyone acts as if we are moving toward peace, but everyone recognizes that this is not the case. The war will continue," added the former minister.
