Gaza City, 29 August (LaPresse/AP) – The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have declared Gaza City a ‘dangerous combat zone’ and announced that they will suspend the so-called tactical pauses that had been introduced to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid. Gaza City is among the places where Israel announced last month that it would suspend fighting between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. to allow food and humanitarian aid to enter. The “tactical pauses” were applied to Gaza City, Deir al-Balah and Muwasi, three places where hundreds of thousands of displaced people have found refuge. The change of course comes as Israel prepares to expand its offensive, mobilising tens of thousands of soldiers to take control of Gaza City. The Israeli army has not specified whether it has informed residents or humanitarian organisations of the resumption of hostilities during the day.
