Kyiv, August 30 (LaPresse) – Russia launched an overnight missile and drone attack on various Ukrainian regions, leaving at least one dead and 22 injured, including three children. This was reported by local authorities, as cited by the Kyiv Independent.
The casualties occurred in the Zaporizhzhia region, where the raids damaged 40 houses, 14 apartment buildings, and an unspecified number of industrial facilities, according to regional governor Ivan Fedorov.
Explosions were also heard in the areas of Pavlohrad, Dnipro, Chernihiv, Lutsk, and Cherkasy.
Ukrzaliznytsia, the Ukrainian state railway operator, said railway infrastructure in the Kyiv Oblast was damaged during the night attack, causing several-hour delays in train departures.
The Kyiv Independent also reported that a second wave of Russian ballistic missiles was launched at eastern Ukrainian cities around 5 a.m.
In response to the attack, Poland scrambled fighter jets around 5 a.m. to protect its airspace, according to the Polish Air Force on social media.
