Milan, 4 September (LaPresse) – The death toll from the magnitude 6 earthquake that struck Afghanistan on Sunday has risen to 2,205. This was announced in a post on social media by the deputy spokesman for the Taliban government, Hamdullah Fitrat. "In the areas affected by the earthquake in the districts of Mazar-e-Dara, Dewa Gul Dara, Chapa Dara and Manogi in the Sawaqi district of Kunar, hundreds of bodies have been recovered from destroyed houses, bringing the total number of victims to 2,205 and the number of injured to 3,640,‘ the post reads, ’rescue and search operations are still ongoing."
