Frankfurt (Germany), 10 September (LaPresse) – German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, at a press conference in Berlin with his Dutch counterpart David van der Weel, strongly condemned the incursion of Russian drones into Polish airspace. "Moscow has lightly accepted a dangerous escalation. We are carefully analysing what happened last night. We have already discussed it at the NATO Council in Brussels and will also examine the issue in depth in the context of the security consultations provided for in Article 4 of the NATO Treaty, which Poland has rightly requested. Today, the discussion will continue in Brussels and in all the capitals of the Alliance," Wadephul said. The minister stressed that the incident demonstrates the unity of the Alliance: ‘During the night, in addition to our Polish friends, Dutch fighter jets also ensured security. I would like to thank the military personnel involved in defending us all. The deployment of Dutch F-35 fighter jets and German Patriot systems in Poland is not just a symbol: it is a military necessity to ensure the security of NATO's eastern flank in the face of a Russian threat that will continue for a long time to come.’
