Turin, 11 September (LaPresse) – ‘In this new era, China and the United States should work together for world peace and prosperity, address global challenges and assume the responsibilities that befitting large countries.’ This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This was reported by Global Times. ‘Recent negative words and actions by the United States have damaged China's legitimate rights and interests, interfered in China's internal affairs and hindered the improvement and development of bilateral relations,’ Wang said, stressing that China ‘clearly opposes such behaviour.’ The minister "urged the United States to exercise caution in its words and actions, especially on issues that affect China's core interests, such as Taiwan. Both sides ‘considered the conversation timely, necessary and fruitful, reiterating the importance of strengthening the leading role of diplomacy between heads of state in bilateral relations, properly managing differences, exploring forms of practical cooperation and promoting stable development of relations,’ according to Chinese media reports.
