Washington (USA), Sept. 11 (LaPresse) – The American conservative political activist Charlie Kirk died following an attack that took place during a public event at Utah Valley University in Orem. The 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA, who was very close to President Trump, was shot in the neck while giving a speech. He died in the hospital, where he had undergone surgery. "He was loved and admired by everyone, especially by me, and now he is no longer with us," said Trump, who ordered flags to be flown at half-staff until Sunday evening at 6 p.m. The governor of Utah referred to it as a "political assassination." Subsequently, the director of the FBI announced the arrest of a suspect, who was, however, immediately released. Turning Point USA, founded by Kirk, is a controversial organization aimed at supporting and spreading conservative ideas in schools and universities across the United States.
