Turin, 16 September (LaPresse) – The return of the hostages ‘is a war objective and a national and moral commitment’. This was stated by the IDF Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, in a video statement. ‘In recent days, after extensive discussions with political leaders, the IDF has significantly intensified its operation in Gaza City. We are operating deep inside the territory, combining ground forces, precision fire and quality intelligence. Our goal is to intensify the blows against Hamas until it is defeated,’ he explained. ‘All our operations are being carried out according to an orderly plan, with the liberation of the hostages and the defeat of Hamas before our eyes,’ Zamir said, adding that Hamas has suffered heavy blows from Israel. ‘We have defeated most of its military power and are now consolidating the results that will bring us closer to the end of the war.’
