New York (USA), Sept. 16 (LaPresse) – U.S. President Donald Trump has filed a $15 billion defamation lawsuit against The New York Times and four of its journalists. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court in Florida, cites several articles and a book written by two Times journalists published ahead of the 2024 elections.
“Today I have the great honor to file a $15 billion defamation and libel lawsuit against The New York Times, one of the worst and most degenerate newspapers in our country’s history, which has become a virtual ‘mouthpiece’ for the Radical Left Democratic Party,” Trump wrote on the social platform Truth.
According to the president, this was “the largest illegal contribution to a campaign ever. Their support for Kamala Harris was even featured on the front page of The New York Times, something unprecedented until then.”
Trump writes that The New York Times “has for decades used the method of lying about your favorite President (me!), about my family, my business, the America First Movement, MAGA, and our Nation as a whole. The New York Times has been allowed to lie, defame, and libel freely for too long, and all of this ends now.”
