Madrid (Spain), 18 September (LaPresse) – The foreign ministers of Spain and 15 other countries have signed a declaration recognising the Global Sumud Flotilla as a humanitarian mission, affirming that they share its objectives and warning that no one may attack the vessels: ‘We ask governments that have not signed this declaration, such as Italy, to do so,’ said former Barcelona mayor Ada Colau, who is on board the Global Sumud Flotilla, in an interview with LaPresse. ‘There are many Italians participating in the mission,’ and this declaration is ‘the least we can do,’ she said. The declaration states that ‘the flotilla is protected as a humanitarian mission, respect for international law is demanded, and that it will not be attacked,’ Colau added: ‘I don't understand why Italy or France have not signed it. We hope they will do so in the coming days.’
