Turin, 25 September (LaPresse) – "The Italian government has taken note of the flotilla's refusal to deliver aid to a neutral port. Italy will offer assistance, where requested, to Italian participants who wish to stop in Greece and continue safely to Italy or another destination. For those continuing their journey with the flotilla, the initial warning published on www.viaggiaresicuri.it remains valid, advising against the initiative.‘ This is according to a message sent, according to reports, by the Foreign Ministry to the Italians on board the flotilla. ’Those who undertake the journey do so at their own risk and under their own personal responsibility," the text continues. ‘The presence of an Italian Navy unit is intended to ensure, where necessary, the application of the law on rescue at sea for any humanitarian needs. Under no circumstances may it constitute a factor of defence or offence for the flotilla on a military level against anyone,’ it concludes.
