Washington, Sept. 26 (LaPresse) – U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a memorandum allowing the Department of Justice to reinstate the death penalty in Washington. “The death penalty in Washington,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “If you kill someone, or if you kill a police officer, a law enforcement officer, there is the death penalty,” he said to reporters in the Oval Office.
The memorandum specifically directs Attorney General Pam Bondi and the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, “to fully implement the death penalty here in Washington, D.C., where the evidence and case facts indicate that capital punishment should be applied,” White House staff secretary Will Scharf said, cited by CNN. Bondi announced: “We are not only requesting it in Washington, D.C., but across the country, once again.”
