Flotilla: Amnesty calls for protection of activists

Milan, 1 October (LaPresse) – ‘The Global Sumud Flotilla bound for Gaza, the largest initiative of its kind, will enter a high-risk area in the Mediterranean where Israeli forces may attempt to intercept it as they have done in the past,’ "States have a responsibility to ensure the safe passage of the flotilla. They must intensify pressure to protect the flotilla and call for an end to Israel's genocide and illegal blockade once and for all.‘ Amnesty International writes this in a post on X. ’The persistent inaction of states in the face of Israel's genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip has forced activists around the world to take peaceful measures to break the siege," the post continues, noting that ‘the flotilla, carrying food, medicine and urgent humanitarian aid, set sail after nearly two years of relentless Israeli attacks on Gaza and 18 years of illegal blockade that has deliberately starved and deprived the Palestinians of Gaza of basic necessities, as part of Israel's ongoing illegal occupation of Palestinian territory.’
