Washington (USA), Oct. 17 (LaPresse) – The United States supports a new IMF loan program for Ukraine and the European Union's initiative to extend a loan to Kyiv based on frozen Russian central bank assets in the West. This was stated by European Commissioner for Economic Affairs Valdis Dombrovskis, who met Thursday with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to discuss support for Ukraine. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank annual meetings in Washington, Dombrovskis said the U.S. does not yet have a clear position on whether it will join the EU's reparations loan project. "There is now constructive engagement from the U.S. on issues related to support for Ukraine," Dombrovskis said. "The United States broadly supports and welcomes our initiative regarding the reparations loan," he added.
