Ukraine, Trump: "The Tomahawk missiles are needed by the US. The war could end soon"

Washington (USA), October 17 (LaPresse) – Summit at the White House between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky. The US President stated that, while he considers the possibility that Putin wants to buy time with the summit in Hungary, he believes that in the end, the Russian president desires an agreement. Trump said that both Putin and Zelensky are “negotiating well,” but both should try to eliminate the mutual hatred to facilitate an agreement. The head of the White House also emphasized that the mediation process he is leading is complex, but that he has already resolved previous conflicts in the Middle East, not seeking awards but aiming to save lives.
The President also expressed interest in a possible exchange of Ukrainian drones for American missiles, stressing the importance of having powerful drones but reiterating that no weapon compares to jets. “The hope is that there will be no need for Tomahawks,” and that “we’ll be able to end the war without Tomahawks,” Trump added. He also said that the United States “needs the Tomahawks” and “we cannot run out of them.” Trump concluded by stating that his commitment to peace, even in difficult contexts, continues with the goal of resolving the crisis in Ukraine.
