Washington, Oct. 17 (LaPresse) – Summit at the White House between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky. During the meeting, Zelensky stated that Trump now has a great opportunity to end the war in Ukraine, an opportunity he does not see with Joe Biden. He praised Trump’s experience in handling international conflicts, particularly in the Middle East, and expressed hope that a similar approach could be applied to the war in Ukraine. Zelensky said that an "important communication" is beginning to develop with Trump, emphasizing that the US president is well informed about the situation on the battlefield. In response to a question about possible compromises, Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is ready to sit at the negotiating table, but that a ceasefire must first be achieved. The Ukrainian president reiterated that Ukraine needs strong security guarantees and proposed an exchange of Ukrainian drones for US missiles, since the US has the necessary missiles but not the drones Ukraine needs.
