Milan, 20 October (LaPresse) – A major Internet outage affected dozens of popular websites, online games and apps, including Amazon, Canva, Fortnite and Snapchat. The outage may have been caused by a technical issue with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the e-commerce giant's on-demand cloud computing platform that supports numerous online operations. AWS reported an “operational issue” at its data centre in Northern Virginia, known as “us-east-1”. “We can confirm an increase in error rates and latencies for several AWS services in the US-EAST-1 region. This issue may also affect case creation through the AWS Support Centre or the support API,” AWS said. “We are actively working to mitigate the issue and understand its root cause.”
