Rome, 23 October (LaPresse) – Sanctions imposed by the United States are ‘a hostile act that does not strengthen Russian-American relations,’ said Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, according to Russian news agencies. According to Putin, the sanctions ‘from a political point of view are obviously an attempt to exert pressure,’ but their economic impact ‘will not be significant’ on Russia. And ‘a self-respecting country,’ concluded the Russian leader, ‘does not make decisions when under pressure.’ Moscow's response to any attacks on Russian territory with Tomahawk missiles ‘would be severe, if not stunning.’
