Rome, 25 October (LaPresse) – The United States has reportedly asked Israel not to impose new sanctions on Hamas or the Gaza Strip, despite the terrorist group's delay in returning the bodies of the hostages killed. This was reported by the Israeli public broadcaster Kan, citing government sources, as reported by Times of Israel. According to the report, Israel is increasingly frustrated because Hamas has not returned any more bodies since Tuesday, despite it being considered possible to do so. Rumours of new deliveries have proved unfounded, but there is still hope that they will take place soon. Diplomatic sources say that visits by senior US officials to Israel are intended to send a message not to jeopardise the ceasefire. Washington is also reportedly putting pressure on Egypt and Qatar, mediators in the negotiations, to ensure that Hamas honours its commitments.
