Naples, 28 October (LaPresse) – ‘Gaza is turning a new page, but a generational leap is needed, and deciding on its future is not up to the leaders who have turned the Strip into a pile of rubble.’ So said Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Patriarch of Jerusalem of the Latins, member of the Vatican's dicasteries for the Oriental Churches and for Christian Unity, in an interview with La Stampa. ‘The reconstruction of Gaza,’ he explains, ‘will not be done by Kushner or Blair. The real reconstruction will be done by those volunteers who, one after another, will get their hands dirty and be able to rebuild the civil and human fabric that the war has destroyed.’
