Tel Aviv (Israel), 28 October (LaPresse/AP) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had ordered the army to carry out immediate ‘powerful strikes’ on Gaza, putting the US-brokered ceasefire to the test once again. Netanyahu made the announcement shortly after Israel reported that Hamas had opened fire on Israeli forces in the south of the Strip. Tensions were already high after Hamas returned remains yesterday that Israel said belonged to the body of an Israeli hostage who had already been recovered at the start of the war.
