Washington (USA), Oct. 28 (LaPresse) – Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth announced today that on Monday, the U.S. military carried out three strikes in the eastern Pacific against boats suspected of transporting drugs, leaving 14 dead and one survivor. “Yesterday, on the order of President Trump, the Department of War conducted three lethal strikes against four vessels operated by designated terrorist organizations trafficking narcotics in the eastern Pacific,” Hegseth said in a post on X.
U.S. strikes of this kind began in early September, initially spaced weeks apart, but the pace has since increased; this is the first time multiple attacks have been announced in a single day. The death toll now rises to 57 across 13 U.S. air raids in the Caribbean and Pacific. Hegseth said Mexican search and rescue authorities “have taken responsibility for coordinating the rescue” of the lone survivor but did not specify whether the individual would remain in Mexican custody or be handed over to the United States.
