USA, Vance: ‘Risk of disaster for Thanksgiving travellers if shutdown continues’

Turin, 31 October (LaPresse) – Americans could face a ‘disaster’ ahead of next month's Thanksgiving travel plans if the government shutdown is not resolved. This was announced by US Vice President JD Vance and Transport Secretary Sean Duffy at a roundtable discussion at the White House with representatives from the aviation, travel and trade union sectors, during which they expressed their concerns about the current state of the industry and developed possible temporary solutions to ease the pressure on Federal Aviation Administration employees, who are forced to work without pay to ensure that Americans can fly safely, according to two White House officials speaking to CNN. "It could be a disaster. We're talking about people who have lost three or four paychecks. How many people are going to show up for work?" Vance noted.
